Grandma Bernie
2 to 3 or 3 1/2 lbs lean meat cut into
1 1/2 to 2" pieces. (Can be stew meat - or shoulder or blade)
6 carrots, sliced thick (I let mine 1" of 2" long)
1 cup celery in 2-3" lengths
6 to 8 largley cubed potatoes (I let mine in fairly large pieces)
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 1lb 13 oz can tomatoes
3 med onions whole or halved
1 tbsp salt
3 tbsp salt
3 tbs tapioca
1/2 c sherry
1/4 tsp thyme
Pinch of rosemary
(If you don't have these herbs, skip)
Mix all
ingredients - place in quart casserole, cover and bake at 250 for
5 hours.
Wonderful
for all-day -away ventures, like a cold football outing.
If tomatoes
too tart - add 1 tbsp sugar. I often just do.
